Stockton Advances in NJAC Tournament with 15-1 Victory

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-4) advanced in the NJAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament with a 15-1 win over Rutgers-Camden (0-5) on Monday night. Freshman Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) led the Ospreys with three goals and two assists for five points. The win was the 50th for head coach Cristina Maurizi.

Stockton potted the first three goals within the first 5:07 of the game for a quick 3-0 lead. Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.), Sullivan and fellow frosh Nikki Owen (Brick/Brick Memorial) hit the net. Sullivan had the helper on the Owen marker.

The Ospreys scored seven more times before the half as Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored three times, with Sullivan hitting the back of the net twice more for a 10-0 margin at the break.

Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) made it 11-0 before Isabella Tamburrino broke the shutout for Rutgers-Camden. That would be the final tally for the visitors as Stockton planted four more goals, including the first career goal for freshman Meghan Pellegrino (Somers Point/Mainland), to set the final score at 15-1.

Owen, Sullivan, Yannacone and Bremer all scored hat tricks, with Sullivan dishing a pair of assists while Yannacone and Owen dealt one helper apiece.

Stevie Ader (Califon/Voorhees) started and earned the win in net and did not have to make a save. Daniela Elliott (Wayne/Wayne Valley) made four saves in 50:20, while Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) saw 7:47 of action in net without having to make a save.

Stockton, the No. 4 seed, will travel to Montclair, NJ to face the No. 1 seed Red Hawks on Wednesday night in a semifinal matchup. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
