Stockton Advances to CSAC Finals

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-1) used a balanced scoring effort to down Bryn Athyn (3-4) 29-2 to advance to the Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament championship game next Saturday. Fourteen Ospreys scored goals, led by Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) with four goals and three assists for seven points.

Stockton wasted no time in jumping out to the lead as Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) tallied just 37 seconds into the match. Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) and Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) scored twice in the nine-goal frame, with Swedlund dishing all three of his helpers.

Tiernan's second goal of the period gave him 100 for his career. He became the 12th Osprey in program history to achieve that milestone.

The Ospreys hit the back of the net seven more times in the second period for a commanding 16-0 margin at the break. Ellis scored twice more, assisted by Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) on both goals to lead the charge.

A goal by J.J. McKenna (Barnegat/Barnegat) and a pair by Swedlund pushed the lead to 19-0 before Jamal White tallied the first of his two goals to break the shutout attempt for Bryn Athyn. From there, every available Osprey saw action, as Stockton outscored the Lions 9-1 in the final frame for the 29-2 final score.

Poli, Ellis, Tiernan and freshman Colin Hopkins (Springfield, PA/Springfield-Delco) all scored three times in support of Swedlund. In addition to Swedlund, Sean Haddock (Hightstown/Hightstown) and freshman Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) all dished three assists in the attack.

Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) played 36:41, allowing one goal and making three saves in earning his seventh win of the season. Colin Bernstein (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) finished the third period with one save before Thomas Sullivan (Morristown/Morristown) played the entire fourth quarter and kicked out three shots.

Stockton will await the winner of tonight's CSAC semifinal between Kean/Montclair State. The CSAC championship game is set for Galloway next Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m.
