Stockton Wins Fifth Straight Game, 2-0

Glenside, Pa. – Stockton University (5-0) scored twice in the second half and defeated Arcadia University (1-4) 2-0 for its fifth straight win to open the season. Gianna Morganti (Berlin/St. Joseph) and Tori Wilson (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) each netted a goal for the Ospreys.

The teams played a scoreless first half during which Arcadia outshot Stockton by a slim 5-4 margin. Just 2:30 into a third quarter that the Ospreys dominated with an 11-3 shot advantage, Morganti continued her torrid scoring pace.

Morganti potted her 10th goal in five games this season to give the Ospreys a 1-0 edge. Madison Maguire (Swedesboro/Kingsway) assisted on what proved to be the game-winning tally.

In the fourth quarter, Wilson added an insurance goal, her seventh marker of the season, with 6:29 remaining to give her team some breathing room at 2-0. Although the Knights outshot Stockton 9-3 in the final period, the Ospreys were able to protect the lead for their fifth consecutive triumph.

Stockton goaltender Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) made a season-high eight saves, including four in the fourth quarter, to post her second shutout of the season. Arcadia goalie Gracie Fenner finished with 10 stops in the contest.

Stockton will conclude a three-game road trip on Wednesday when the Ospreys visit Cabrini for a late-afternoon matchup that begins at 4 p.m.
