Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-6, 1-0 NJAC) took the court for the second straight home match and downed Cabrini University (1-7) 3-2 on Wednesday night. The scores were 13-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25 and 16-14.
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) led Stockton with 18 kills and tied for game-high with six blocks.
The Cavaliers started strong taking the first set 25-13 as they shut down the Ospreys offense. The Ospreys rebounded with a 25-22 second set victory with Leon spiking five balls and
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) adding four more kills.
Stockton rolled through he third set with a 25-16 win with Leon and Capriglione in the middle of the scoring. Cabrini called a timeout with the Ospreys up 21-16, but a pair of aces by
Grace Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) and a kill by Capriglione secured the set.
Cabrini would not back down in the fourth period jumping out to a 10-7 lead before Stockton fought back to knot the set at 10-10. The Cavaliers scored seven of the next ten points before Stockton would close the gap. Kills by
Noelle Langish (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) and
Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) brought it to 18-16, but again, the visitors stretched the lead to 20-16 forcing the Ospreys into a timeout.
Capriglione spiked a pair of kills and served an ace to close to two at 21-19, this time forcing Cabrini to talk it over. The visitors then closed out the set but not before Stockton narrowed the gap on a pair of kills by freshman
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack). Cabrini held on for the 25-21 win to send it to a deciding fifth set.
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 6-0 early lead and had it to 7-1 before Stockton started to fight back. Freshman
Grace Woll (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) spiked a pair of kills to bring it to 8-4. After the squads began to trade points and with Stockton down 13-10, the home team rattled off four straight points to take their first lead in the final set at 14-13.

Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) gave the Ospreys the slim margin. Cabrini knotted the match for the last time setting up the thrilling Stockton ending. Kills by Leon and Witherspoon capped off the final set and captured the match at 16-14
In addition to Leon, Capriglione posted her second career double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Rentzel also registered a double-double with 27 assists and 19 digs.
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) was the third Ospreys to double up with 15 assists and 11 digs.
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) topped the defense with 22 digs, with freshman
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) blocking a career-high six shots to tie Leon for game-high.
For Cabrini, Hannah Dalton topped all players with 19 kills and added 11 digs. Gina Custer led with a game-high 28 digs while Melanie Cotes-Rivera dished 21 assists. Victoria Camacho led the team with five blocks.
Stockton will play at the Stevens Tournament this weekend in Hoboken on Friday night and Saturday. On Friday the Ospreys will face the University of Scranton in the first match of the Tournament. Game time is 4:30 pm.
