Hoboken, N.J. – Stockton University (3-7) began play in the Castle Point Challenge at Stevens Institute of Technology with a 3-0 setback to the University of Scranton (8-2). The set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 25-19.
Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the Ospreys with six kills followed by
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) with five kills. Witherspoon also registered team highs of three blocks and two aces.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) totaled 11 assists and eight digs while
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) scooped a team-high nine digs.
Stockton got off to strong starts in each set, building leads of 8-3 in the first and third frames and 5-1 in the second set. Each time, Scranton overtook the Ospreys for the three-set sweep.
Stockton will play two more matches at the Castle Point Challenge tomorrow, facing host Stevens at 10:30 a.m. and Clarkson University at 3:30 p.m.
