Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (1-0) opened the fall portion of the 2021-22 season with a 9-0 sweep of Goucher College (0-2). Five Ospreys recorded wins in both singles and doubles on the afternoon.
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) prevailed in the closest match of the day, winning a super-tiebreaker 10-6 after splitting sets 5-7, 6-1.
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (N.Y.)) rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph while
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Lily Muir (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) got off to a fast start on the way to a 6-0, 6-4 victory and
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) contributed a 6-4, 6-3 win. Freshman
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) made an impressive debut with a 6-2, 6-2 win for her first career victory.
Pasquale also teamed with fellow freshman
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) for an 8-1 rout in doubles. Nunez and van Schalkwyk cruised to an 8-1 doubles win as well while Devi and Muir doubled their opponents 8-4.
Stockton will have two weeks off before hosting Stevens on October 2 at noon.
