Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-1) played a tough match but fell to NYU (1-0-1) by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Osprey offense was held to just six shots on the day and only two on net by a stifling Violets defense.

The match was scoreless until the 41:39 mark when Rafael Panero-Ren tapped in a loose ball in front for a 1-0 lead for NYU. The Violets held a slim 5-2 advantage in shots but were able to post the only marker.

The visitors opened up the game in the second half, tallying three scores to put the game away. NYU scored twice in a span of 1:33 to salt the game away. A tap in and penalty kick raised the margin to 3-0. The Violets added one more in the 74th minute  to set the final score at 4-0.

Stockton had one golden opportunity to break the shutout in the 87th minute when
Dante Montesinos (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) got free in front of the net, but his header was tipped over the crossbar by NYU netminder Luca Mancuso.

Six different Ospreys had one shot each, with Montesinos and
Ervin Gjeli (Hasbrouck Heights/Hasbrouck Heights) being the only Ospreys to fire a shot on goal.

Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) made one save in suffering his first loss of the year. Mancuso kicked out a pair of Osprey shots in posting his second straight shutout

Stockton will take to the road for their next contest, as the Ospreys will face Misericordia on Tuesday afternoon. The match will take place in Dallas, PA and is set for 5 pm.
