Dallas, Pa. – Stockton University (2-2) played its first road game of the season after three straight at home and was downed 2-1 by Misericordia University (3-0). The contest was the fourth in six days for the Ospreys.
Ervin Gjeli (Hasbrouck Hts./Hasbrouck Hts.) scored a late goal for Stockton and goalkeeper
Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) made six saves in the match.
Max Gariano opened the scoring 20:07 into a first half during which the Cougars outshot Stockton 7-4. Just over eight minutes later, Francisco Echeverria put the Ospreys into a 2-0 hole.
Gromitsaris stopped all six shots on goal that he faced in the second half, but Stockton was unable to generate much of an attack. Gjeli averted the shutout for the Ospreys by scoring with just seven seconds left in the game to set the final score at 2-1 in favor of Misericordia.
Stockton will play two games at the Cialella Classic hosted by Rutgers-Camden this weekend, starting with a matchup against SUNY Cortland on Saturday at 2 p.m.
