Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (7-9, 5-5 NJAC) produced its best offensive performance of the season for a 77-51 victory over Rutgers-Camden that was the second straight conference win for the Ospreys. Four Stockton players reached double figures.
Stockton's 77 points and 51.8 percent (29-56) shooting from the field both were season highs. In addition, the Ospreys went a near-perfect 15-16 (93.8%) at the free throw line, also a season best. Stockton outrebounded the Scarlet Raptors 34-24 as well.
Nalya Hill (Bloomfield/DePaul Catholic) led the Ospreys with a team-high 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Hill was a perfect 8-8 at the line.
Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) sank three three-pointers and finished with 17 points for her fifth straight game in double figures.
Jordyn Madigan (Toms River/TR East) went 5-6 from the floor and 2-2 at the stripe for a career-high 13 points.
Sanaa Parks (Westampton/Rancocas Valley) hit double digits for the first time in her freshman year with a career-high 11 markers. Parks went 5-6 from the field and also grabbed six rebounds.
Stockton held a 19-17 edge at the end of a tight first quarter before breaking the game open with a 22-10 second period. The Ospreys closed the stanza with an 18-4 run to turn a 23-23 tie into a commanding 41-27 advantage at the break.
Seven different Stockton players scored during the outburst, paced by Madigan and
Adriyana Jennings (Camden/Winslow Twp.) with four points apiece. The Ospreys sot 57.1 percent (8-14) from the field and 6-6 at the line in the quarter.
LaRosa and Hill netted seven and six markers respectively during a third period in which Stockton extended the lead to 21 before taking a 58-41 advantage into the fourth quarter. The Ospreys finished strong, outscoring the home team 19-10 in the final frame to close out the 77-51 triumph.
Nine of the 10 Stockton players who saw action scored points on the night. The Ospreys also registered 16 assists on their 29 field goals, led by
Grace Sacco (Ocean City/Ocean City) with eight dishes.
Rahzirah Blocker led everyone with a game-high 23 points for Rutgers-Camden, followed by Salina Jones with 13 counters.
Stockton returns home to host Ramapo on Saturday at 3 p.m.
