Union, N.J. – Stockton University (5-7, 3-3 NJAC) got off to a good start but was overtaken by Kean University (7-5, 5-1 NJAC) in the second half and fell 64-54. The game was the third of four straight road matchups for the Ospreys.

Ionyonia Alves (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) topped Stockton with 13 points and eight rebounds. Alves shot 6-9 (66.7%) from the floor and tied for the both the team lead in points and game high in rebounds. Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) also tossed in 13 points.

The first quarter was Stockton's best as the Ospreys got off to a strong start. Alves notched eight points and Sacco added four as the pair accounted for all of the scoring during a 12-4 run that gave Stockton a 19-9 lead. Kean cut the gap to 19-14 at the end an opening period in which Stockton shot 64.3 percent (9-14) from the field.

Both teams had difficulty putting the ball in the basket during a 9-9 second stanza. The Ospreys hit just 3-13 (23.1%) from the floor but managed to hold a 28-23 lead at the half after a last-second bucket by Sacco.

Kean turned it up a notch in the third quarter, seizing control of the game by outscoring Stockton 21-4 in the period. The Ospreys went scoreless for the last 6:33 of the frame and trailed 44-32 entering the fourth quarter.

An early three-pointer by LaRosa drew Stockton within 44-35 but Kean scored the next seven points to shut down the attempt at a rally. The margin remained double digits for all but nine seconds the rest of the way to the 64-54 final.
