Stockton Dropped by NJCU 2-0

Jersey City, NJ –Stockton University (10-4-2, 2-3-1 NJAC) saw their four-match unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-0 loss to New Jersey City (8-2-1, 3-2-1 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys held a 22-11 advantage on shots and 11-6 in shots on goal, with Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) and Sebi Morrello (North Caldwell/West Essex) getting four shots each on net.
 
The Gothic Knights scored one goal in each half as the Ospreys could not break through for a score. Jerson Lanchipa tallied at 36:14 of the first half on his own rebound after a corner kick.
 
Gabe Cruz added the insurance goal in the 62nd minute. Mike McKeown (Blackwood/Highland) had a chance in the 79th minute off a Stockton corner, but the NJCU defense was able to keep the visitors off the board. Carbone had one final chance in the last minute but could not get the tally and Stockton fell 2-0.
 
Liam Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made three saves in net in the loss.
 
Nick Linebaugh made 10 saves, just two off his career-high in posting the shutout.
 
The Ospreys will return home to face Rutgers-Camden for their next match. It is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 7 pm.
