Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (18-7, 7-1 NJAC) swept their final NJAC match of the regular season with a 3-0 victory over visiting Rutgers-Camden (13-14, 4-4 NJAC) on Tuesday night. The scores were 25-18, 25-11 and 25-9. Senior
Haley Green (Springville, UT/Maple Mountain), who was honored on Senior Night before the game, topped all players with a match-high 16 kills on the evening.
The Scarlet Raptors opened a quick 7-3 lead in the first set, prompting the Ospreys to call a timeout to settle things down. Stockton battled back to take their first lead of the night at 13-12 on a kill by
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack).
From there the Ospreys ran off 12 of the next 18 points to capture the first set 25-18. Green and
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) had four kills, with Witherspoon adding three kills.
The teams locked up again at 4-4 in the second set before Stockton ran off on a 7-0 spurt and never looked back in the 25-11 win. Green had an outstanding set with 10 kills and just one hitting error for a .600 hitting percentage.
The final set became academic as the Ospreys took the match with a 25-9 victory, with five different players spiking a pair of kills each.
Green had a .483 hitting percentage for the match, with Louer adding nine kills and Witherspoon totaling eight more at the net.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) dished a match-high 23 assists and freshman
Paige Anania (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) led all players with a career-high 16 digs to go with a match-high three aces.
For Rutgers-Camden, Dyamond Free had eight kills and three blocks, with Brinn Hassan dishing 19 assists. Hassan broke the school record for helpers with her second assist of the evening. Ciera McCrae scooped 12 digs to lead the Scarlet Raptors.
Stockton, which will be the No. 2 seed for next week's NJAC Tournament, will finish the regular season with a non-conference tri-match this Saturday. The Ospreys will travel DeSales University to face Neumann at 12 p.m, and DeSales at 2 p.m.
