Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (5-6-2) played its second undefeated opponent in a week and was topped 3-1 by NYU (5-0-5), which received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll. The match was played at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Heather Bertollo (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year with 6:17 remaining to avert the shutout.
Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee) collected her second assist of the season on the scoring play.
NYU took the early lead just 1:43 into the game and added one more marker in the first half. The Violets netted their third goal with 2:15 gone in the second half.

Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for an NJAC game at William Paterson that kicks off at 5 p.m.
