Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (5-6-2) played its second undefeated opponent in a week and was topped 3-1 by NYU (5-0-5), which received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll. The match was played at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
 
Heather Bertollo (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year with 6:17 remaining to avert the shutout. Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee) collected her second assist of the season on the scoring play.
 
NYU took the early lead just 1:43 into the game and added one more marker in the first half. The Violets netted their third goal with 2:15 gone in the second half.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) made nine saves, which was one shy of her career high.
 
Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for an NJAC game at William Paterson that kicks off at 5 p.m.
