Stockton Shuts Out William Paterson 1-0

Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (6-6-2, 1-2-1 NJAC) notched its first victory of the season in conference play with a 1-0 win over William Paterson (1-8-4, 0-4 NJAC). The Ospreys got back in the win column after a difficult 0-4-1 stretch including two games against unbeaten teams.

Riley Finnegan (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) scored the game-winning goal with 21:33 gone in the contest and Erica Dietz (Allentown, Pa./Central Catholic) assisted on the marker to move into a tie for the team scoring lead with nine points.

Led by defenders Carlie Vetrini (Pt. Pleasant Boro/Pt. Pleasant Boro), Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee), Kylee Alvarez (Galloway/Absegami) and Kendra Cirino (Midland Park/Midland Park), Stockton did not allow any shots as they completely shut down the Pioneers.

Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) collected her second career shutout. Sarah Mantilla made eight saves for William Paterson.

Stockton will play two home games next week, starting with a tough matchup against 15th-ranked The College of New Jersey at the Stockton Turf Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
