Harrisburg, Pa. – Stockton University (1-0) won its 2022-23 season opener 69-60 over Baruch College (0-1) at the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) led four Ospreys in double figures with 17 points.
Flanders went 5-7 from the field including a perfect 4-4 from three-point range.
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) and
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) tossed in 12 points apiece. Dawkins also dished a game-high seven assists.
Milo De Los Santos (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) hit three three-pointers and scored 11 points. Stockton shot 10-31 (32.3%) from three-point range in the game.
The first half was back and forth, with a brief six-point lead following a Flanders steal and dunk the largest margin of the half for either team. Flanders scored nine first-half points and De Los Santos added eight as the pair sparked the Ospreys to a 37-34 lead at the break.
De Los Santos capped a 10-2 run with a three-pointer that gave Stockton a 50-38 lead in the second half. After the margin reached 13, Baruch closed the gap to 62-56 with 2:53 remaining. Flanders drained a three-pointer 11 seconds later and Campbell sank four free throws in the last 28 seconds to clinch the 69-60 victory.
Jehmehl Fair scored 16 points to lead Baruch.
Stockton will continue play in the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament tomorrow by facing Penn State Harrisburg at 3 p.m.
