Stockton Ends Regular Season with 67-57 Defeat

Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (10-14, 8-10 NJAC) led by six late in the third quarter but was overtaken by New Jersey City (10-8, 9-9 NJAC) and fell 67-57 in the last game of the regular season. Three Ospreys scored in double figures.
 
Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) shot 3-5 (60%) from three-point range and led Stockton with a team-high 16 points. Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) scored 11 points, tied her career high with nine assists and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Nalya Hill (Bloomfield/DePaul Catholic) finished with 10 points and nine boards while Adriyana Jennings (Camden/Winslow Twp.) grabbed a career-high nine rebounds to go with a season-high nine points.
 
LaRosa scored eight early points to spark the Ospreys to a 13-8 lead but NJCU reeled off the last seven counters of the first quarter to pull ahead 15-13. Stockton fell behind 26-18 in the second period and later closed within 28-24 on a three-pointer by Morrone before an NJCU bucket made it 30-24 at the half.
 
Stockton faced its largest deficit at 39-30 with 3:06 gone in the third quarter. The Ospreys then exploded for 15 straight point to surge in front 45-39. Morrone led the charge with five points followed by freshman Jaiden Harris (Lindenwold/OLMA) with four.
 
Stockton led 47-43 after three stanzas and 49-45 two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Gothic Knights took over from there, outscoring the Ospreys 22-8 over the last seven minutes of the game to deal Stockton the 67-57 setback.
 
Damaris Rodriguez paced NJCU with game highs of 25 points and 10 assists. Laney Fox poured in 16 markers followed by Jada Camacho with 11 for the home team.
 
Stockton enters the NJAC Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will host No. 10 seed Rutgers-Camden in a first-round playoff game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
