Stockton Falls to William Paterson 60-43

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-12, 7-8 NJAC) fell behind early and could not recover as the Ospreys fell 60-43 to William Paterson (10-9, 7-6 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Nalya Hill (Bloomfield/DePaul Catholic) led the home team with 12 points and tied for team-high with five rebounds.

Stockton got off to a cold start shooting just 4-14 (28.6%) during the first quarter, giving the Pioneers a 17-9 margin after one period of play. The visitors shot 50% (7-14) with Justina Cabezas scoring 12 of her game-high 21 points in the frame. Freshman Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) kept the Ospreys close with five points.

The Ospreys could not find the range again in the second period with just 2-14 shooting, allowing William Paterson to extend their margin to 32-16 after one half. Stockton came out of the break in better shape, cutting the lead by one.

Stockton got some spirited play with Adriyana Jennings (Camden/Winslow Twp.) coming off the bench in the final period. Jennings scored five points, grabbed three boards, two blocks and a steal in just under eight minutes of play, but it was not enough to stave off the 60-43 defeat.

LaRosa scored nine points with Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) dishing a career-high nine assists and pilfering six steals. Morrone, Hill and Ionyonia Alves (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) all grabbed five rebounds each.

Cabezas totaled 21 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for William Paterson, with Victoria Palladino adding 13 markers and four helpers. Brianna Smith came off the bench to chip in with 10 points.

Stockton will face Kean University in the team's last home regular season contest. Tip-Off is scheduled for 6 pm on Wednesday evening.
