Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-13, 7-9 NJAC) held the top team in the NJAC to just 53 points, but not vault over Kean (15-6, 13-2 NJAC) falling 53-52 on Wednesday night. Â
Nalya Hill (Bloomfield/DePaul Catholic) and
Madison LaRosa (Oceanport/Shore Regional) each scored 15 points to lead the Ospreys.

The game was tight from the beginning as Kean took a 12-10 lead after one period. Hill scored five of her markers to keep Stockton close. The home team grabbed an early 6-2 lead, but Kean stormed back with seven consecutive points to take a 9-6 margin with 3:09 left. The Cougars then finished the frame up by two points.

Kean stretched the advantage to five points at 20-15 at the 3:42 mark of the second period, before settling for the 22-19 halftime margin. Stockton started the second half knotting the score at 24-24 on a three ball by LaRosa and another Hill basket in the first 1:36 of the third period. The Cougars answered with a 5-0 run to keep the lead for good, but only having a 34-32 lead after three periods.

The Cougars again marched out to a five-point lead at 46-41 with 3:38 remaining in regulation, before the Ospreys fought back. Four points by
Kadinah Harris-Hood (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) closed the margin to 49-48 with 59 seconds left. After a Kean basket, Hill brought the home team within one at 51-50 with 39 ticks on the clock.

A pair of foul shots by the Cougars made it a three-point game at 53-50, but LaRosa was fouled attempting a three-point shot with just one second remaining in regulation. She made the first two, but the third attempt rolled off the rim and Kean survived for the 53-52 victory.

Hill, who shot 6-8 from the floor on the night, pulled down nine rebounds and two steals to go with her 15 points. LaRosa, Harris-Hood and
Ionyonia Alves (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) also swiping two steals each. Â

Stockton will play their last two remaining regular season games on the road, starting with Rutgers-Newark on Saturday. The contest in Newark starts at 6 pm.
