Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (3-2) fought through bad weather and New Paltz (2-2) for a 15-10 win on Saturday afternoon.
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/Our Lady of Mercy),
Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) and freshman
Emily Deworsop (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) score three goals each to lead the Ospreys' attack.
Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) scored a pair of goals to offset two Hawks scores to knot the game at 2-2 after one period. Deworsop posted two of her goals to top the Ospreys in a high-scoring 6-5 second frame. The Hawks tied the score at 5-5 after the rookie's two scores with four straight markers.
Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional),
Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) and
Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) helped the Ospreys regain the lead at 8-7 at the break.
Stockton put the game away in the third period, scoring five of the six goals in the frame for a commanding 13-8 margin. After New Paltz tallied the first marker, the Ospreys rattled off five straight goals led by Meduri, who tallied all three of her scores in the game. Pascrell added a goal and assisted on two of Meduri's goals, with Deworsop adding another tally to the ledger.
In the fourth quarter, Pascrell scored the last two goals of the game for the home team to offset another pair by the visitors to set the final score at 15-10 in favor of the Ospreys.
Pascrell topped the squad with five points as she dished a pair of helpers to go with her three goals. Yannacone also dished two assists for Stockton. Freshman
Meg Lynch (Glen Rock/Glen Rock) played 30 minutes in goal and earned her first career win in net.
For the Hawks, Katie Zito topped all players with five goals, with Maddie Gillis dishing a game-high three assists. Goalkeeper Hailey Aber kicked out 10 shots in net.
Stockton will host Ursinus College on Wednesday night for their next game. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
