Stockton Falls to Late Surge by Ursinus, 15-12

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (3-3) could not stop a late surge of goals by Ursinus (3-2) and were defeated by a score of 15-12 on Wednesday night. Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) led five Ospreys with multiple tallies with three goals on the evening.

Stockton started the match strong with Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) scoring just 44 seconds into the game. Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional), and Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) then scored 28 seconds apart for a 3-0 lead with 8:11 gone in the first frame. The Bears answered with a pair of goals to end the period down by a 3-2 score.

The Ospreys tallied three times in the second period on a pair of goals by Shultz and one by Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.), but the visitors hit the net four times, the final two coming 19 seconds apart, to knot the game at 6-6 at the break.

Stockton forged ahead in the third quarter with four markers to offset a pair by Ursinus. Nikki Owen (Brick/Brick Memorial) scored twice, with Toal and Pascrell accounting for the other markers to take a 10-8 lead after three frames.

The final period saw the Bears score seven times, that included the final six tallies of the game. Four of them coming in a span of 2:02 to put the game away for the 15-12 win.

Toal, Owen, Pascrell and Yannacone scored two goals each, with Shultz and Toal dishing one helper each.

Jordan Hawkes played 39:16 making four saves but took the loss in net. Daniela Elliot saw 20:44 of action in net for the Ospreys.

Ursinus was led by Maeve Leonzi, who topped all players with five goals. Grace Lynch added four goals and a pair of assists for six points, with Reilly Morgan chipping in with a hat trick of three goals.

Alex Machado kicked out 16 shots for the Bears in goal.

Stockton will be off until next Wednesday night when they will take on Widener University, to finish up a four-game home stand. Game time is scheduled for 7pm in Galloway.
