Leesburg, Fla. – Stockton University (3-1) split the first two games of its spring break trip to Florida. The Ospreys were edged 6-5 in 11 innings by North Central College (3-0) but rebounded for a 6-4 win over Washington College (2-2).
Against North Central, freshman
Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) went 2-5 with a double, run and an RBI while
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) was 2-5 with a double and two RBI.
Stockton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Segnello ripped an RBI double and later scored an earned run on a North Central error. The Cardinals plated three runs in the fourth inning to pull ahead 3-2. Stockton forced extra innings with an unearned run on two more North Central errors in the seventh frame.
Neither team scored again until the 10th inning when North Central pulled ahead 5-3 with a pair of runs. Luyber slugged a two-run double in the bottom of the 10th to extend the game at 5-5, but North Central scored once in the 11th and held Stockton scoreless for the 6-5 final.

Megan Dignam (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy),
Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) and
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) rapped two hits apiece versus Washington College.
The Ospreys scored three runs in the top of the first on an RBI triple by Posten and RBI singles from Patterson and Dignam. The Shorewomen got one back in the bottom half to make it 3-1. Posten later scored on an infield RBI single by Segnello in the top of the third for a 4-1 advantage but Washington responded with a run in their half to pull within 4-2.
In the fifth frame, Patterson doubled home Posten for her second RBI of the game. The sophomore then scored an unearned run on an error for Stockton's largest lead at 6-2. Washington closed the gap to 6-4 and left the tying run on base in the sixth inning and neither team scored in the seventh stanza for a 6-4 Stockton triumph.
Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) pitched a complete game and struck out seven to earn the win.
Stockton will be back on the field tomorrow for games against Plattsburgh State at 3 p.m. and The College of Wooster at 5:15 p.m.
