Stockton Drops Two Games in Florida

Leesburg, Fla. – Stockton University (4-4) suffered a pair of setbacks on its third straight day of games in Florida. The Ospreys were blanked 10-0 in five innings by #25 Millikin (11-2) and then were topped 6-3 by Wisconsin-La Crosse (7-3).

Stockton was no-hit by Millikin pitcher Addison Sargent in the first game of the day. The Big Blue scored five runs apiece in the second and fifth innings for the 10-0 final.

Against Wisconsin-La Crosse, Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) went 2-3 with a double, run and an RBI. Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) was 2-3 with a double and two runs.

The Eagles took the early lead on a three-run homer in the first inning. Stockton made it 3-2 in the second frame as Patterson doubled home Posten and later scored herself on a sacrifice fly by Brittany Rifenburg (Spotswood/Spotswood).

Wisconsin-La Crosse extended the gap to 6-2 with one run in the bottom of the second and a two-run homer in the third stanza. Posten led off the fourth inning with a double and eventually scored two batters later to make it 6-3 but the Ospreys went hitless in the last 3.2 innings and absorbed their second defeat of the day.

Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit and fanning two, but she was not involved in the decision.

After a day off tomorrow, Stockton will return to the diamond on Thursday for games against Mount St. Mary at 9 a.m. followed by NYU at 11:15 a.m.
