Clermont, Fla. – Stockton University (6-4) returned to action after a day off and produced a pair of wins as the Ospreys shut out Mount St. Mary (1-4) 3-0 and then blew out NYU (3-4) 15-4 in six innings. Stockton rapped 21 hits and allowed just two earned runs on the day.
Samantha McErlane (Mt. Ephraim/Audubon) pitched a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts against Mount St. Mary. McErlane had just one troublesome inning, working out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth frame.
Lilly James (Roseland/West Essex) went 2-4 with two runs while
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) was 2-4 with two RBI in the game.
The Ospreys scored twice in the first inning. James led off with a bunt single and eventually scored on an RBI groundout by Posten.
Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. In the fourth stanza, James singled again and later scored on an RBI single by Posten for the final run of the 3-0 Stockton victory.
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) led a 12-hit attack against NYU with three safeties plus two runs and an RBI. Posten and
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) each contributed two hits, two RBI and a run while James was 2-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI.
NYU started quickly, plating three runs in the bottom of the first for a 3-0 lead. Stockton vaulted ahead 5-3 with five runs in the third inning.
Vanessa Tancini (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) hit an RBI double, Patterson drove in Tancini with a sacrifice fly, and
Gracie Meyer (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) and Czaczkowski added RBI singles.
In the fourth inning, an RBI double by James and RBI single by Posten that scored James increased the lead to 7-3. After NYU got one back in the fifth inning, the Ospreys put the game away with eight runs on just two hits in the top of the sixth for the 15-4 triumph. Czaczkowski and Posten delivered RBI singles in the big inning.

Stevie Unger (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing just two earned runs, three hits and five walks against two strikeouts to move to 4-0 on the season. Freshman
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) tossed the final 0.2 innings in her college debut.
Stockton will conclude its 10-game stint in Florida tomorrow with matchups against Bowdoin College at 3 p.m. and Utica College at 5:15 p.m.
