Chestertown, Md. – Stockton University (2-1) scored the last three goals of the game to defeat Washington College (0-2) 12-9 in the first road game of the season for the Ospreys.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) became the first Osprey ever to reach 200 career goals.
Swedlund pumped in six of Stockton's 12 goals in the game.
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) contributed two goals and four assists for six points followed by
Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) with two goals and two assists.
The Ospreys fell behind 5-2 in the first 20 minutes of the game, with Swedlund netting both tallies. His second was number 200 for his career as he added to his school-record total. D'Armino and
Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) scored 32 seconds apart before a late Washington goal made it 6-4 Shoremen at the half.
In the third quarter, two straight markers by Swedlund and one by
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) jumped Stockton ahead 7-6, but Washington scored with just three seconds left in the period for a 7-7 tie heading to the fourth stanza.
The teams alternated goals in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter for a 9-9 tie, with Swedlund and Poli hitting the net for the Ospreys. Poli potted the eventual game-winner on an assist by D'Arminio for a 10-9 edge with six minutes remaining.
D'Arminio and Swedlund gave the Ospreys some breathing room with goals in the last three-and-a-half minutes as Stockton prevailed 12-9.
