Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (10-2, 3-1 NJAC) suffered its first conference defeat of the season and saw its three-match winning streak halted with an 8-1 defeat to The College of New Jersey (10-2, 3-0), which has never lost an NJAC match since the league began sponsoring the sport in 1982.
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (NY)) earned the lone team point for the Ospreys at No. 3 singles when her opponent was forced to retire. After dropping the first set 6-3, Nunez was leading 3-1 in the second set when the match was stopped.
Nunez and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) nearly grabbed a point at No. 2 doubles as they forced a tiebreaker but were defeated 8-7 (7-2).
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) played the closest of the six singles matches as her first set went to a tiebreaker before she fell 7-6, (7-2), 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Stockton will wrap up a three-match homestand on Saturday when the Ospreys host New Jersey City in an NJAC contest at noon.
