Union, N.J. – Stockton University (9-1, 2-0 NJAC) began New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a pair of 9-0 sweeps as the Ospreys downed William Paterson (1-3, 0-1) in the morning and then stopped at Kean University (2-5, 0-1) for another victory in the afternoon.
Against William Paterson,
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 singles shutout.
Lily Muir (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) and
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) each won by 6-0, 6-1 scores while
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) and
Jenna Bryszewski (Westville/Gateway) each posted 6-0, 6-2 wins. Bryszewski's victory was the first of her career. Doubles teams of Devi/Muir and Pasquale/van Schalkwyk each won 8-1. Bryszewski and
Bella Trimble (Marlton/Doane Academy) doubled their opponents 8-4.
Against Kean, Pasquale recorded a 6-0, 6-0 shutout and Fenimore contributed a 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Devi posted a 6-3, 6-0 win and Muir pulled away for a 7-5, 6-0 victory. Bryszewski cruised 6-2, 6-1 and van Schalkwyk collected a win when her opponent retired in the first set.
Bryszewski and Fenimore led the doubles sweep with an 8-1 rout. The duos of Muir/Devi and Pasquale/van Schalkwyk each rolled to 8-2 wins.
Stockton will have a week off before hosting Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC match next Saturday, April 9 at noon.
