Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (9-6, 3-2 NJAC) was downed by host Rowan University (8-7, 4-1 NJAC) 20-13 in a battle for second place in the conference. The Ospreys fell behind 6-1 and were unable to recover from the early deficit.
Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) led Stockton with four goals and one assist plus four draw controls.
Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) contributed two goals and three draw controls.
Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) and
Mary McLaughlin (Somers Point/Mainland) also scored two goals apiece. McLaughlin's two markers were the first of her career.
Meghan Pellegrino (Somers Point/Mainland) grabbed a game-high four ground balls.
Rowan sandwiched a pair of three-goal bursts around one tally by
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) for a 6-1 advantage in the opening 13 minutes. Later trailing 7-2, Stockton tried to rally by outscoring the Profs 4-2 in the last 12 minutes of the second period.
Pascrell scored twice along with one apiece by McLaughlin and
Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) as the Ospreys made it 9-6 at the half. Rowan pulled away with an 8-1 run during the third quarter, with Pascrell netting the lone tally for Stockton.
The Ospreys doubled Rowan 6-3 over the last 18 minutes of the game, led by two goals from Bremer, but Stockton never got closer than seven. Senior defender
Kylie Evans (Marlton/Cherokee) potted her first goal since 2019 with 1:15 remaining to set the final at 20-13.
Stockton will end the regular season by hosting Kean University on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Ospreys will earn the No. 3 seed for the NJAC Tournament with a win or Montclair State loss.
