Stockton Falls to Kean 10-9; Pascrell Breaks Goals Mark; Toal Registers Her 100th Point

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-7, 3-3 NJAC) succumbed to a fourth quarter rally and dropped a 10-9 decision to Kean University (8-8, 3-3 NJAC) in the regular season finale for both squads.

Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) scored five goals and broke the single season goal scoring mark for Stockton. Teammate Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) scored twice and broke the 100-point barrier for her career.

In the first period, Pascrell and Mary Meduri (Brigantine/Our Lady of Mercy) scored to offset a pair by the Cougars in the 2-2 frame. Toal got her 100th point on her first goal in the second period at the 13:56 mark to give Stockton a brief 3-2 lead.

The Cougars potted three straight goals to take a 5-3 lead before Toal and Pascrell knotted the contest at 5-5. Kean scored once more to re-gain the margin at 6-5 at the half.

The Ospreys got the lead back at 8-7 when Pascrell scored twice and Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp) once to offset a goal by the visitors in the third frame. The Cougars tallied twice in the first minute of the final frame to take a 9-8 lead, then added an insurance tally with 6:15 to play.

It would prove to be important, when Pascrell scored her record-breaking marker with 1:52 left, but time ran out and Kean came away with the slim 10-9 victory. Pascrell in 2019 and Sara Frankovic in 2016 held the previous mark of 51 goals.

Toal becomes the fourth Osprey to eclipse the 100-point barrier, joining teammates Pascrell and Shultz, along with Zoey Kramer (2014-15).

Goalkeeper Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) made a career-high 14 saves in net for Stockton.

Amanda Brzoska scored five goals, with teammate Dana Meehan scoring three times with one assist for the Cougars. Amanda Ehrhart dished a game-high three assists, with goalkeeper Nicole Peters making 13 saves in net.

Stockton qualified for the NJAC Tournament as the number three seed and will to the road to face the number two seed Rowan University in Glassboro on Wednesday night. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
