Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (10-8, 1-3 NAJC) dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader at The College of New Jersey (15-4, 3-1 NJAC) by scores of 5-1 and 8-0 in five innings. The Ospreys were held to one run on seven hits in the twinbill.
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) went 2-3 in the first game.
Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive) tripled and scored the lone run for Stockton.
TCNJ tallied three runs in the first two innings for a 3-0 lead. Segnello led off the third frame with a triple and
Lilly James (Roseland/West Essex) followed with an RBI single to make it 3-1. Posten then singled to give the Ospreys two runners aboard with none out, but they could not capitalize.
The Lions put the game away with a two-run homer by Lauren Conroy in the sixth frame for the 5-1 final score.
Gracie Meyer (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) extended her hitting streak to eight games with a single and also walked once.
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) rapped both of Stockton's hits in the second game, including a double. Posten also reached base once on a walk.
TCNJ again built a 3-0 lead in the first two innings. The Lions later added five unearned runs in the fourth stanza and the game ended after the top of the fifth at 8-0.
Stockton will be on the road again on Thursday for a non-league doubleheader at Immaculata University that begins at 3 p.m.
