Fredericksburg, Va. – Stockton University (7-2) opened up a 10-goal lead in the first half and rolled to a 21-10 victory over Mary Washington (7-6) that was the fifth straight win for the Ospreys. Stockton outshot the home team 38-13 during the first two periods.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) led the offense with eight goals, one off his career high, plus two assists for 10 points, also one shy of his career best.
Sean Haddock (East Windsor/Hightstown) pumped in five goals.
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) contributed four goals and an assist followed by
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South), who reached the 200-point mark for his career and finished with two goals and one assist.
Swedlund potted three early goals, with Haddock, Capozzoli and
Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) netting one apiece as Stockton broke out to a 6-1 lead in the first 11 minutes. The Ospreys led 6-2 after one period and dominated the second quarter by a 7-1 margin for a 13-3 lead at the half.
Swedlund again led the way with three goals in the second stanza. Haddock added two markers followed by Capozzoli and Poli with one apiece. Poli's goal with 6:35 left in the quarter made him the seventh Osprey in school history to hit the 200-point plateau.
Capozzoli, Swedlund and Haddock all hit the net in the first 2:25 of the third quarter for an insurmountable 16-3 advantage. Haddock, Poli, Swedlund and Capozzoli later scored in the period, which ended with Stockton ahead 20-7.
Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) got on the board early in the fourth quarter to make it 21-7 and the Ospreys cruised to the 21-10 triumph.
All three Stockton goalkeepers saw action in the game, with starter
Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) making 11 saves in 51:15 to earn the win.
Stockton will play its next three games at home, starting with a key CSAC matchup against Kean University at G. Larry James Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
