Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (6-4, 1-0 NJAC) opened New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a dominant 20-1 victory over Ramapo (1-7, 0-1 NJAC). Twelve different Ospreys scored at least one goal as the home team cruised to the win.
Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) paced the offense with three goals and two assists while
Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) scored three times for a hat trick.
Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) chipped in with two goals and three assists, becoming Stockton's career assist leader with 59 helpers in a Stockton uniform.
Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) recorded two goals and one assist plus a game-high seven draw controls, highlighted by several one-handed snags.
Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) and
Nikki Owen (Brick/Brick Memorial) each contributed two goals and an assist.
Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell) added one goal, one assist and three draw controls.
Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills) and
Emily Deworsop (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) also finished with a goal and an assist apiece.
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA),
Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) and
Lilly Alessandro (Abington, Pa./Abington) each scored once as well. Freshmen Marinello and Alessandro each notched their first career goal while Sullivan potted her first of the season.
After jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, the Ospreys put the game out of reach by outscoring Ramapo 9-1 in the second period for a commanding 14-1 advantage at the half. Shultz assisted on Meduri's goal during the second stanza to become the program's career leader.
Stockton added six more goals in the second half for the 20-1 triumph. All 19 Ospreys who were in uniform saw action in the rout. Stockton outshot Ramapo 34-5 and forced 25 turnovers by the Roadrunners.
Stockton will be back on the field tomorrow for a home game against Colorado College that begins at 1 p.m.
