Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (3-1-1) pumped in three goals in the first 35 minutes of the game and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Stevenson University (0-2-2). Freshman
Thomas Trimble (Emerson/Emerson) scored his first two career goals to lead the Ospreys.
Antonio Matos (Hammonton/St. Augustine Prep) chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Peter Kozlej (Toms River/TR East) netted a goal and Stockton benefited from an own goal in the match.
Trimble's first college goal came 19:18 into the game as he rocketed a volley shot in under the crossbar off a pass from Matos. Just over 11 minutes later, Trimble tracked down a long ball by fellow rookie
Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) and found the net for his second marker of the game.
Only 3:32 after Trimble's second tally, a Stevenson defender attempted a clear from right in front, but his boot bounced off a teammate and into the net for an own goal that increased the Stockton lead to 3-0.
With just 4:27 gone in the second half, Matos found himself with a wide open net after a feed by
Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock), and Matos made no mistake, upping the margin to 4-0.
Kozlej capped the scoring with 22:23 remaining.
Brendan Deal (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) started the play by stripping a Stevenson defender. Deal fed
Drew Greenblatt (Manasquan/Manasquan), who flicked the ball to Kozlej for a shot into the far right corner of the net. Greenblatt, a transfer from the University of Scranton, collected his first career point with the assist.
Starting goalkeeper
Liam Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made four saves in the first 66 minutes of the game. Freshman
Jack Gabler (Chambersburg, Pa./Scotland Campus) entered for his college debut and did not face a shot in the last 24 minutes of the combined shutout.
Kristian Slaby started in goal for Stevenson and made two saves in 67:58. Nolen Olson-Warwick played the last 22:02 and also made two stops.
