Stockton Tops Alvernia 1-0 for Third Straight Win

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (5-2-1) scored an early goal and made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over Alvernia University (1-3-2). The win was the third straight for the Ospreys and also extended their unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1).

Heather Bertollo (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) scored her third goal of the season and moved into the team lead with seven points on the year. Emily Hauck (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) dished her team-high third assist on the marker.

Hauck volleyed a high cross from the right side that sailed into the goalie box where Bertollo knocked it in on the bounce to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead with just 8:31 gone in the game.

Stockton controlled the play throughout the match, retaining possession and probing the Alvernia defense for an opening. The Ospreys held a 17-3 advantage in shots, including 9-2 in shots on goal. Stockton also generated six corner kicks while not allowing any corners at the defensive end.

Ospreys' goalkeeper Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) earned her third shutout of the season with two saves. Brynn Bock made seven stops for Alvernia.

Up next, Stockton will visit Moravian University for a road game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
