Stockton Defeats NJCU 3-0

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-5, 1-1 NJAC) evened their record in NJAC play with a 3-0 sweep over New Jersey City (6-4, 1-2 NJAC) on Thursday night. The scores were 25-9, 25-14 and 25-14. Freshman Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led a balanced attack for Stockton with a match-high 11 kills. The Ospreys had an outstanding .382 hitting percentage on the night.
 
Stockton started strong with a blowout win in the first set as Louer and Haley Green (Springville, UT/Maple Mountain) spiked four kills each in the 25-9 win. Green had five kills in the second frame, aided by three each from Louer, Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) and Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) to win 25-14.
 
The Gothic Knights rallied in the final set to take a 6-3 lead before the Ospreys answered with a 5-0 run to force NJCU into a timeout at 8-6. Stockton took control, scoring 17 of the next 25 points to capture the set and match at 25-14.
 
In addition to Louer, Green chipped in with 10 kills, with De La Torre spiking eight kills. Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) dished a match-high 18 assists while Regan Mendick (Newark, DE/Red Lion Christian) chipped in with 10 helpers.
 
Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) led the squad with 10 digs, while Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) and Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) blocked two shots each.
 
For New Jersey City, Paola Toledo had five kills with Sydney Lore dishing 10 assists. Katrina Nguyendon topped all players with 11 digs.
 
Stockton will host a tri-match on Saturday, facing Arcadia University at 11 a.m. followed by a match against Drew University  at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
