Newark, N.J. – Stockton University (7-2-1, 0-1 NJAC) began NJAC play with a 3-1 setback at Rutgers-Newark (3-2-2, 1-0 NJAC) on Saturday night. The Ospreys entered the match with a five-game winning streak and seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1).
Mike McKeown (Blackwood/Highland) scored a goal for the second straight game. McKeown converted a penalty kick with 14:27 remaining to avert the shutout for Stockton.
Rutgers-Newark scored once in the first half, in the 31st minute. The Scarlet Raiders tacked on two more goals 11:38 apart for a 3-0 count before McKeown's successful penalty kick late in the game. McKeown was credited with a team-high four of Stockton's 11 shots in the contest.

Liam Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made a career-high seven saves. Christian Andrach also finished with seven stops for Rutgers-Newark. Franco Catania scored twice for the Scarlet Raiders.
