Stockton Falls to Rutgers-Newark in NJAC Opener

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (5-4-1, 0-1 NJAC) dropped their first NJAC tilt of the year, dropping a 4-1 decision to Rutgers-Newark (5-5-1, 1-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Erica Dietz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) scored the lone goal for the Ospreys.

The Scarlet Raiders controlled play through much of the game, scoring the first goal of the game at 38:49 for a 1-0 lead after one half. The visitors took control of the match, potting three more markers in the second half, before Dietz broke through for her third goal of the season.

The sophomore took a pass from Grace Tecce (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South) and pushed a shot the low right corner for the marker in the 86th minute. That was as close as Stockton would get in the three-goal defeat.

Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) started in net for Stockton making three saves in 65:52 minutes of playing time. Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) finished the last 24:08, kicking away one shot.

Katie McLaughlin made four saves in net for the Scarlet Raiders.

Stockton's next match will be a road tilt against Montclair State at Montclair on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Hawks are ranked #12 nationally by the United Soccer Coaches. Game time is set for 4 pm.
