Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (2-0) scored once in each half and won its home opener 2-0 over Albright College (1-1).
Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) found the net for the second straight game and
Riley Finnegan (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) added an insurance goal for the Ospreys.
Stockton controlled play throughout the game, outshooting Albright 22-3. Williams scored just 4:30 into the match to give the Ospreys the early lead, potting the rebound after a shot by
Allie Magas (Lambertville/South Hunterdon) was knocked aside by Lions' goalie McKenna LeVan.
The Ospreys doubled the lead in the second half as Finnegan took a touch and then floated a beautiful 35-yard shot into the top right quadrant to make it 2-0 at 62:48.
The goal was Finnegan's first since 2019. Since her last goal, she missed one full season and most of another with injuries and saw the 2020 campaign shorted to just seven games due to COVID.
Stockton goalkeeper
Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) needed just one save to post her second consecutive shutout. Albright starter LeVan made seven saves in the first half and the Alexis Solt added three stops in the second half.
Stockton will be back in action tomorrow for a home game against #10 University of Scranton on the Stockton Turf Field at 5 p.m.
