Stockton Downed by Christopher Newport

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-2-4, 0-1-2 NJAC) dropped a 3-0 final to Christopher Newport University (6-1-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Ospreys had five shots on net but could not break through in the match and was Stockton's third game in a five-day span. The Captains are in the receiving votes category in the United Soccer Coaches latest poll.

Four different Ospreys were able to get shots on net in the first half but to no avail. At 23:05 the Captains slipped in a tally off a scrum in front for the 1-0 lead, which would last until half.

The visitors took control in the final stanza, outshooting the Ospreys 6-1 and potting a pair of markers. The goals came in the first 2:47 of the half, then again in the 88th minute for the 3-0 final score.

Jake Homowitz (Tinton Falls/Christian Brothers Academy), Ernst Louisius (Asbury Park/Neptune), Thomas Trimble (Emerson/Emerson), Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) and Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) each fired shots on net but were turned away.

Freshman goalkeeper Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) made three saves in loss.

Stockton will finish their three-game homestand, when the Ospreys will face Widener University on Wednesday night at G. Larry James Stadium. Game time is set for 7 pm.
