Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (14-8) earned a pair of wins in a tri-match on its home court. The Ospreys downed Hunter College (16-6) 3-1 and then swept Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) (2-17) 3-0.
Ashley Carkhuff (Hackettstown/Hackettstown) led the Ospreys with 18 kills on the day.
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) spearheaded a balanced attack with nine kills in the victory over Hunter. Carkhuff and
Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) tallied eight kills apiece and Carkhuff also recorded 13 digs.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) contributed seven kills and a career-high eight blocks.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) totaled 28 assists and three aces while
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) added 15 assists and two aces.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) paced the back row with 16 digs.
Stockton scored five of the last seven points to take the first set 28-26. Three kills apiece by Palmer and De La Torre sparked the Ospreys to a 25-19 triumph in the second set. After dropping the third frame, Stockton dominated the fourth set 25-13, getting three kills each from Wilson, De La Torre and Carkhuff.
Carkhuff spiked a match-high 10 kills and registered a .500 hitting percentage against Mount Saint Mary.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) notched seven kills and three aces followed by Palmer with six kills.
Freshman
Kristen Burton (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tied her career high with 17 assists and Mendick dealt 14 assists. Ritchie again finished with 16 digs and also served three aces.
Stockton jumped out to a commanding 13-0 lead and cruised to a 25-6 rout behind five kills from Carkhuff in the first set. Palmer and Louer led the offense with four and three kills respectively in a 25-14 second stanza. The Ospreys broke out to a 9-0 lead in the third set and rolled 25-10 with Carkhuff smacking four more kills.
Stockton will play at Kean University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in a matchup for first place in the NJAC.
