Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (18-9) prevailed in each of three close sets for a 3-0 sweep of Stevens (16-8) as the Ospreys wrapped up a four-match homestand. Stockton won with excellent all-around play, posting a .248 hitting percentage on offense and 57 digs on defense.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) led the Ospreys with a match-high 14 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) tied her career high with 13 kills and recorded an outstanding .476 hitting percentage.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) and
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) directed the offense with 19 and 17 assists respectively.
Lauren Sommer (York, Pa./Central York) scooped a career-high 14 digs and
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) added 13 digs.
Stockton opened up a 14-7 lead with six consecutive points in the first set, but Stevens rallied to tie at 22-22. The Ospreys then scored three straight, clinching the 25-22 win on Palmer's fourth kill of the set.
After falling behind 9-3, Stockton chipped away during a second set that had eight ties and four lead changes. A kill by Palmer gave the Ospreys two set points, but the Ducks rallied for a 24-24 tie. Another kill by Palmer followed by an ace from Rentzel handed the home team a 26-24 win.
The third set belonged to Wilson and Palmer with six and five kills respectively. Stockton built a 16-11 lead and clinched the triumph by topping Stevens 25-21.
Cleo Shannon paced the Ducks with 13 kills while Molly Harris tallied 16 assists and 12 digs for the visitors.
Stockton will finish NJAC play with a match on the road at Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday.
