Stockton Sweeps Red Hawks 3-0

Montclair, N.J. – Stockton University (10-7, 3-0 NJAC) stayed perfect in conference play with a sweep of Montclair State University (8-10, 0-4 NJAC) by scores of 25-18, 26-24, 25-22. Long scoring runs in each set were keys to victory for the Ospreys.
 
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) smacked a match-high 12 kills followed by Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) with 10 kills. Ashley Carkhuff (Hackettstown/Hackettstown) registered nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
 
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dealt a team-high 19 assists and tallied eight digs while Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) contributed 16 assists and a match-high three aces. McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) scooped a match-high 16 digs and added six assists.
 
Palmer began the match with four early kills to spark Stockton to a 6-0 lead in the opening set, and the Ospreys led by at least two for the rest of the frame.
 
Montclair led 9-5 in the second stanza when Stockton reeled off seven straight points, including three kills by Carkhuff, to surge ahead 12-9. The Ospreys later trailed 22-21 before using a 5-2 spurt to outlast the Red Hawks 26-24.
 
Three aces by Rentzel and two kills from Wilson highlighted a six-point outburst that aided the Ospreys in seizing control of the third set. Montclair rallied within 22-20 before two more kills by Wilson helped Stockton prevail 25-22 to close out the sweep.
 
Skye Ramsey paced Montclair with 11 kills while Emily Carcich handed out 22 assists and Emma Hatcher recorded eight digs.
 
Stockton will head to Stevenson University on Saturday for matches against Lebanon Valley at 1:00 p.m. and Stevenson at 3:00 p.m.
