Stockton Posts Second Straight Shutout

Wayne, NJ – Stockton University (6-2-4, 1-1-2 NJAC) won their first NJAC game of the season with a 2-0 victory over William Paterson 5-8-0, 1-3-0 NJC) on Saturday afternoon.  Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) and freshman Carter Bailey (Hammonton/Hammonton) tallied the goals for the Ospreys.

Stockton came out on fire during the first 45 minutes of play, out shooting the Pioneers 10-4 in the frame. The Ospreys made it pay off when Hoenisch scored his team high fourth goal of the season at 30:22. After a foul in the box, the sophomore deposited the penalty kick into the net for a 1-0 lead.

In the 42nd minute, Bailey took a pass from Kieran Sundermann (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) and tallied his first career goal to stretch the margin to 2-0 and a lead that would hold through the half.

The Pioneers tried to fight back in the final period, but Stockton's defense held and gave the visitors the 2-0 win for the Ospreys' second straight whitewash.

Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) earned his sixth shutout of the season, making five saves.

Stockton will have a quick turnaround as the Ospreys will begin a three-game week, starting on Monday against Penn State-Abington. The match in Abington, PA will start at 3:30 pm.
