Abington, Pa. – Stockton University (7-2-4) scored four times in a 15-minute span of the second half for a 4-0 victory over Penn State Abington (5-4-3) that was the Ospreys' third straight win in a span of six days. Stockton dominated the Lions 11-1 in shots on goal.
Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) and
Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) scored two goals apiece and
Kieran Sundermann (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) dished two assists.
After 55 scoreless minutes, Hoenisch netted an unassisted goal 10:26 into the second half to spark the offensive onslaught. Ten minutes later, Carbone scored his first marker of the game and Sundermann collected his first assist.
Only 1:17 after that, Hoenisch tallied his team-leading sixth goal of the season and Sundermann dealt his second assist on the play. Less than four minutes passed before Carbone struck for his fourth counter of the season with an assist by freshman
JP Candela (Howell/Howell) to cap the 4-0 triumph.
Stockton goalkeepers
Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) and
Kyle Birmingham (Budd Lake/Mt. Olive) combined on the shutout, with Bartletta playing 76 minutes and Birmingham making one save over the last 14 minutes in his Osprey debut.
Penn State Abington goalie Brendan Werner made seven saves in the match.
Stockton will play two NJAC home games this week starting with a contest against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
