Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (4-3, 2-0 NJAC) used a balanced attack to defeat Rutgers-Camden (0-7, 0-2 NJAC) 63-50 in a road game. Four Ospreys scored in double figures led by
Trina Deveney-Bethea (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) with 12 points.
Deveney-Bethea shot 6-10 (60%) from the field.
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds to go with a game-high four steals.
Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) tied her career best with 10 points while
Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) tallied 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Stockton outrebounded Rutgers-Camden by a whopping 53-29 and also scored 25 points off turnovers.
The Ospreys started slowly and trailed 18-6 in the first eight minutes. Stockton faced a 23-15 deficit in the second quarter before surging ahead with 11 straight points, seven of which were scored by Fowlkes and four coming from Morrone.
Stockton took control of the game with a 21-7 third quarter highlighted by points from seven different players. The Ospreys led 47-31 after three and stayed in front by at least 11 points for the entire fourth period on the way to the 63-50 triumph.
Rahzirah Blocker paced Rutgers-Camden with a game-high 20 points and Jania Pitts tossed in 16 markers for the Scarlet Raptors.
Stockton will play three of its next four at home, starting with a matchup against Ramapo at The Sports Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
