Elizabethtown, Pa. – Stockton University (2-0) used a fast start and strong finish to top Elizabethtown (1-1) 20-15. The Ospreys jumped out to a 5-1 lead and later scored the last four goals of the game.
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) potted five goals and dished four assists for a game-high nine points to go with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Ospreys.
Colin Hopkins (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-Delco) scored a career-high five goals and dished one assist for a career-best six points.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) contributed three goals and an assist while
Ryan Anderson (Avon-by-the-Sea/Manasquan) added a goal and three helpers.
Three goals by Swedlund and one apiece by Poli and Anderson sparked the Ospreys to a 5-1 lead in the first eight minutes. The game tightened from there as Elizabethtown scored twice to make it 5-3. Stockton again crept out to a four-goal lead at 10-6 on consecutive tallies by
Hayden Smallwood (Margate/Ocean City) and Poli.
The Ospreys led 12-9 at the half and 14-12 after three quarters. Markers from
Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) and Hopkins made it 16-12 with 13:16 remaining, but the Blue Jays answered with three goals in two minutes to trim the gap to one at 16-15.
Stockton clinched the win by dominating the last eight minutes and scoring four straight goals. Smallwood and Levy-Smith hit the net followed by Poli and Hopkins to seal the 20-15 triumph.
Goalkeeper
Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) made seven saves in the win. Brayden Franey registered 20 stops while Riley Langan tallied five goals and two assists for Elizabethtown.
Stockton will be back on the road on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game at the University of Scranton.
