Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (5-7) played its third doubleheader in four days and swept Immaculata (5-5) by scores of 9-1 in six innings and 5-0.
Vanessa Tancini (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) went 4-5 with three stolen bases and two runs in the twinbill.
Tancini was 3-3 with two stolen bases and two runs in the first game.
Lilly James (Roseland/West Essex) and
Gabrielle Barranger (Sicklerville/Haddonfield) each contributed two hits, with James adding two RBI and a run while Barranger scored twice.
Stockton broke out with four runs in the second inning. Barranger and freshman
Madison Manera (Clayton/Clayton) each stroked RBI singles before James knocked a two-run single that scored Barranger and Manera to make it 4-0.
Immaculata got on the board with a single run in the top of the fifth and Stockton answered with a run in the bottom half. The Ospreys scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to bring the run rule into effect at 9-1. Tancini, Barranger, James and
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/CH West) all crossed the plate in the inning.
Stockton starter
Jenna Crampton (High Bridge/Voorhees) allowed one run on five hits with three strikeouts in five innings pitched for the win.
In the nightcap,
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) led the way with three extra-base hits, two doubles and home run, to go with two RBI and two runs.
Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) and
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) rapped three hits apiece, including a double for Patterson.
Osprey pitcher
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) tossed a three-hit shutout with a career-high 11 strikeouts for her third win of the season. Tramp retired 10 of the first 11 batters that she faced and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.
Stockton again started quickly. James led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored on an RBI double by Sears. Czaczkowski later singled to bring home Sears for a 2-0 lead. Sears led off the bottom of the third with her second homer of the season, a solo blast to left field that upped the advantage to 3-0.
The Ospreys tacked on an unearned run in the fourth inning and Barranger manufactured a run in the fifth frame. The lefty speedster reached on an error, then stole second and third before scoring on a squeeze bunt by Posten for the final run of the 5-0 triumph.
Stockton will be right back on the field tomorrow for a doubleheader at Neumann University that begins at 3 p.m.
