Dallas, Pa. – Stockton University (7-2) outscored host Misericordia University (4-4) 13-7 in the second half to erase a two-goal halftime deficit and win 20-16. The Ospreys scored the first six goals of the third quarter.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) struck for a game-high six goals followed by
Robbie O'Brien (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco) with career highs of four goals and five points.
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) also potted four goals.
Swedlund, Capozzoli, O'Brien and
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) got on the board for Stockton during a 4-4 first quarter. Swedlund, Capozzoli, and O'Brien scored again in the second quarter, but Misericordia fired in five goals for a 9-7 Osprey deficit at the break.
Stockton exploded for six consecutive goals in the first nine minutes of the third quarter.
Hayden Smallwood (Margate/Ocean City) started the run, followed by Capozzoli and then a pair from O'Brien. Tallies by Capozzoli and Swedlund made it 13-8 in favor of the Ospreys.
Misericordia made a charge with four straight goals to get within 13-12 with 14 minutes remaining but Stockton responded with a four-goal spurt of its own. Swedlund netted two straight and then markers by Smallwood and
Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) upped the lead to 17-12 with 5:48 on the clock.
The Ospreys led by at least four the rest of the way and recorded the 20-16 triumph.
Tyler Horvath (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) dominated the faceoff spot, winning 27 of 35 and grabbing 13 ground balls.
Michael Kilgallon III paced Misericordia with four goals and three assists while Connor Bevan added four goals and one assist for the Cougars.
Stockton recently added a game to the schedule, and that game will be at Vassar College on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
