Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (10-4, 2-2 CLC) faced its second top-five ranked opponent of the season and fell to No. 4 Christopher Newport (13-1, 2-1 CLC) 25-8 in a Coastal Lacrosse Conference game.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) led the Ospreys with a game-high four goals followed by
Ethan Fought (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) and
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) with a goal and an assist apiece.
Two early goals by Swedlund helped the Ospreys forge a 2-2 tie in the opening 11 minutes of the game. Swedlund and Capozzoli each netted one marker for Stockton in the second period, however the Ospreys trailed 13-4 at the half.
Stanley Kolimago (Lansdale, Pa./Methacton) potted the lone goal for Stockton in the third quarter. Swedlund, Fought and
Colin Hopkins (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Twp.) each tallied one goal in the fourth stanza, with Fought assisting on the counter by Hopkins.
Matt Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May) registered a game-high three caused turnovers plus three ground balls for the Ospreys.
Drew Miller led a group of 17 goal scorers for CNU with three markers. Andrew Cook finished with two goals and four assists for the Captains. Goalkeeper Zac Hanway played three quarters and totaled 11 saves.
Stockton's next game will be a Coastal Lacrosse Conference matchup at Montclair State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
