Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (18-13, 5-5 NJAC) scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, to capture a 6-5 win over Penn State-Abington (14-16) on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference affair.  Freshman
Kevin Novobilsky (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) led the offense with three hits on the day.
Stockton opened the scoring with single runs in the second and third innings, before the Nittany Lions tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of markers in their half of the fifth inning. The next stanza, the Ospreys scored twice on a two-run triple by
Frank Bellezza (Avon/St. Rose) to double the margin at 4-2.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) doubled in Novobilsky in the seventh to stretch the lead to 5-2, but the visitors came back to knot the game once more. A two-run homer by Zach Morales in the eighth and an RBI in the top of the ninth tied the game at 5-5, setting up the thrilling finish.
Luke Fabrizzi (Old Bridge/St. John Vianney) walked and was replaced by
Gavin Malave (Mountainside/Governor Livingston) who pinch ran for Fabrizzi. Avagnano doubled to put runners at second and third with no out.
Austin Beard (Toms River/Toms River South) then hit a long fly to score Malave to give Stockton the 6-5 victory.
Fabrizzi and Bellezza had two hits each, with Fabrizzi scoring twice and Bellezza driving in a pair of runs.
Freshman
Alfonso Lombardi (Wayne/Cedar Grove) set career-highs with 7.2 innings and six strikeouts but did not figure in the win.
Robbie Ford (Green Twp./Newton) picked up the win in relief.
Morales and Eric Rollins had two hits each for the Nittany Lions.
Stockton will return to NJAC Play on Thursday, when the Ospreys will travel to Trenton, NJ to face The College of New Jersey at Trenton Thunder Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
