Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-4, 3-2 CLC) started slowly but came alive in the second period for a 17-13 victory over Arcadia University (6-8) on Saturday afternoon. Senior
Ryan Anderson (Avon-by-the-Sea/Manasquan) celebrated Senior Day with a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists to lead the Ospreys.
The Knights opened the scoring with three goals in the first period while holding the ospreys scoreless for a 3-0 early lead. Arcadia tallied the first goal of the second frame, before Stockton got going.
Four straight goals by
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph),
Brendan McHale (Montville/Montville) and a pair by
Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) evened the match at 4-4 with 6:09 remaining until the half.
Two more by Swedlund and one each by
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne) and
Ethan Fought (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) offset two by the Knights to give Stockton an 8-6 advantage at the break.
After the squads each tallied three markers in the third stanza, the Ospreys put the contest away with a six-goal final frame for the 17-13 victory. Two markers each by Poli and Swedlund, plus one each by Anderson and
Hayden Smallwood (Margate/Ocean City) gave Stockton the 6-4 final period and the win.
Swedlund scored five goals on the day, with Poli hitting the net three times. McHale added a career-high three assists.
Tyler Horvath (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South) won 25-33 (.757) face-offs and scooped a game and career-high 19 ground balls. Goalkeeper
Colin Bernstein (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) made 13 saves in the victory.
For Arcadia, Landan Hajek and Billy Burton scored three goals each, with Kyle McLaughlin dishing three assists and scoring once for four points. Bryan Albertsen also tallied four points with two goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Nathaniel Hudgins was spectacular in net kicking out 23 shots.
Stockton will finish the regular season with their final home game on Wednesday night, when the Ospreys will face Muhlenberg College. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
